Welcome to my blog "Take it all off". My purpose with this blog is to try to find out who I really am and what I really want from my life. TIAL (Take it all off) will help me to find my own yellow-brick-road that leads me to my destiny. I got inspiration to this blog from my favorite blogger, who I also admire, Susanna Lau from Style Bubble. This blog will concentrate on my personal style and personal interests from fashion to food and beyond. Everything that I find esthetically beautiful or has something to do with who I am as a person, I will post here. This will help me to determinate who I am or who I will become by an easier way. I've been struggling to find myself for a while now. I cannot find myself before I clarify the things I really like; not what I am expected to like. I need to break out from my role that society, my family and my friends have given me and search for my true self. I believe this to be a problem for many other young, and old, people.
As Susanna Lau said in her blog:
As Susanna Lau said in her blog:
"We are in an age of creative narcissism where the affirmation of ourselves as individuals has never felt more important through what we do, what we listen to, what we eat, where we live etc."
How sad it might sound, this is the truth. I have to try to find myself so it would be easier for me to find my place in life. At the moment I feel a bit insecure because I'm so lost with myself. I want to get this feeling go away and I hope this blog will do the trick! This, my first blog post, will be about the bloggers that inspired me to start my own style blog. I admire and honor them all and wish someday to be proud of myself and feel good about myself as they already do. This is to honor the Blogger Royalty!
Blogger Royalty
The King of 'em all
Susanna Lau, StyleBubble
Susanna Lau is a Chinese girl born on 13th December 1983 in Britain. She started her blog StyleBubble on March 2006 and has been blogging ever since. Her blog is followed by 30,000 viewers daily and she doesn't disappoint her blog's viewers: she posts texts and photos every day, sometimes several posts a day! She has been working with fashion before and is well-known for her unusual and unique style. She now works as a freelancer and has many projects going on that she has gained because of her blog's popularity.
The thing I just love about Susie is that she is not afraid to be herself. She doesn't care what other people think about her and keeps doing her thing. Her style differs from mainstream and it is definitely a good thing: she keeps surprising everyone by what she comes up the next day. She is unpredictable and always finds the things we have never seen before. I also deeply admire her passion for what she does, I don't think any other blogger is as passionate about their blog, style and fashion in any forms than she is - you notice it from her constant blogging and varying subjects. I just can't realize how she has the time to do all that she does! She sacrifices from her 24 hour day 20 hours for her blog and work. I wonder when she gets to sleep?
Another reason why I love Susie so much is that she, apart from many other so called style bloggers, is very intelligent. She knows how to use words and has very much common sense. I believe if I looked inside Susie's head I would see much more nerve senses going active in her brain than many other people would have - and she uses them very wisely. Her texts are always a pleasure to read because she uses so many different words and knows how to describe things: a talent that many people, including me, have hard time. She is simply the best blogger that you can find!
Following the King is the Queen:
Marlena, Self-Constructed Freak
Marlena is not as well-known as the other bloggers I'm about to tell you. Marlena started her blog Self Constructed Freak on September 2009 and her profile on blogger.com has been viewed 4323 times. She is 17 years old girl from the United States and loves style. She does most of her clothes herself and isn't as drawn to brands as many other blogger. She knows what she is doing and shares her tips on how to rework your old clothes new.
The reason Marlena is Queen in my Royal family of Bloggers is because she is so one-of-a-kind. Just like the King she is not afraid to be truly herself and does what she does without thinking about what other people think. I admire her tailoring skills: the clothes she remakes are not only fitting but also look good on her. I love the details in her clothes and her ideas are from another world, I don't know where she gets them! Her style isn't for everyone but it fits her perfectly. She is a 80's punker mixed with pinkie-pony-girl - not many people can pull off that kind of a style.
She is almost my age which makes me relate to her and her ideas. I wish she would post more often but I won't complain because her posts are always interesting and instructive. I hope she will keep blogging in the future too!
The long-haired Princess:
Jane Aldridge, Sea of Shoes
Jane Aldridge was born in 1992 in Texas, United States. She started her blog Sea of Shoes in April 2007 when she was 15 years old. Originally she started writing the blog with her mother Judy Aldridge (who nowadays has her own blog Atlantis Home) but soon it became clear that the blog was Jane's. Her blog tells about Jane's own style and passion for shoes. Her blog has grown extremely popular and has opened new doors for Jane. She is launching a new shoe collection with her mom for Urban Outfitters and has worked together with the owner of Gryphon.
The thing that first strikes you when you start browsing through SOS (Sea of Shoes) is the stunning beauty of Jane. She is classically beautiful and could be listed as one of the Disney princesses - that's why she is my Princess. She doesn't use too many words in her texts' but she doesn't have to, the photos speak for themselves. What I like about her is her good taste and the ability to make every outfit look good and wearable. It is a joy to look through her photos and enjoy the sight of all the gorgeous shoes!
The reason Jane is my Princess and not the Queen or the King is that her own pictures outshine everything informative. She could give something else too than just her pretty photos. But I love her pictures so I forgive her but my wish is as I said: more informative things! She is still amazing.
No royal family is complete without their Abigail:
Tavi Gevinson, StyleRookie
Tavi Gevinson was born on 22nd of April 1996 in Chicago, United States and is one of the most well-known young bloggers in the internet. She started her blog Style Rookie on April 2008 and has reached the popularity that only a few people have: she has 1,5 million viewers in her site a day. When Tavi started her blog the fashion world didn't believe such a young girl to be able to write such good texts about fashion and glaimed that she wasn't the real writer. Later she has proven to be who she says she is. Tavi has had her ups and downs from visiting Tokyo Fashion Week to being accused of been in the way in some fashion show. But even so her popularity has stayed the same.
Tavi's blog was the first blog I started reading a couple of years ago. I first was drawn to the fact that she was so young but still dressed up like a mature person. She had also by then already accomplished so much that I felt a small envy towards her. I like the fact that she has her own interests that she holds on to. I like her style: a mix of granny and a little child which fits her perfectly. The other thing I liked about her in the past, and I like still, was the way she writes. She really has a mature mind and she knows how to express herself in a clear way but at the same time with expressions and words that are all her own.
There are two reason behind the fact that I made Tavi the Abigail: one, because as I said she dresses more mature and granny-like than others of her age: second, she is in as low place as abigail's place because her style has changed during these past couple of months. She is living now her teenage years so of course she is questioning who she really is so her style changes time to times. She has become more pink, barbie-like dressed girl with bows and cute accessories - is she trying to life her lost childhood again? I hope she will go back to her old style that I loved so much but if this new Tavi is who she really is then I won't complain since everyone should be who they really are and not to pretend something else for others.
Last but not least I introduce you the Jester:
Evita Nuh, The Crème de la Crop
The crème de la crop was founded on August 2008 by Evita Nuh, (at the moment) a 12-year-old Indonesian girl. I don't know much about her but she is predicted to become one of the biggest phenomenas in Asian fashion. She has some fashion and photography background with her sisters and it is said that her talent in fashion is scarily good.
I just found Evita's blog a few days ago but I already added her to my Royal Family - though as a Jester but that is only because her pictures are so joyful and funny and she seems like a small merrymaker! She doesn't know English very well but her bad English brings a nice twist to her posts. She posts pretty rarely but all of her posts are worth reading. I just love her style in her photos and as she is so young I'm very eager to see what the future will bring for her! She deserves to be added to my Royal Family of Blogger.
