Everyday I'm shuffling with Amnesty

I went to an AMNESTY meeting this weekend with my friend Mary. The meeting took place in Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki and lasted the whole Saturday. The whole day was really informative and I got to meet some awesome new people. I really enjoyed myself. We also set up a Facebook page for our Amnesty group that we have in our high school, go and follow it HERE! After the meeting we went to take some photos around Helsinki. I guess I haven't told you yet but I'm trying to learn to photograph well so I am practicing my "skills" slowly. I am so not good yet but I am trying hard. Here are some photos I took yesterday while in Helsinki. Most of them are of my friend Mary but she is so pretty that I think you won't object me putting pics of her here.

IB Baptism in photos

I am so SORRY for being so silent for so long. I'm still fighting my laptop and getting this post here is taking me a hell of a long time! But I thought I needed to share these photos with you. I was in an IB BAPTISM on Saturday. Basically what it means is that the older students humiliate the younger ones publicly and everyone (hopefully) haves fun. My friend MARY got some awesome photos which I am posting here now. Enjoy!

What is art?

I've come to think about this question now that my city Turku is relishing in the honor of being The European Capital Of Culture 2011 and has been planting "art" all over the city. A couple of weeks ago I saw, what I would describe, not so eye-friendly piece of.. something, and I knew I would have to take a photo of it for you and ask if you considered it as art. I went to SEE IT AGAIN today and while in the city center I saw a couple of other pieces of art that were worth taking picture of. Here are the photos for you.

So here it is.. ART. Is this art? What do you say? This THING is a part of a collection of painted seals (each painted by a different painter) sprinkled around the city. They are supposed to raise the awareness of the Baltic Sea's bad condition and make people want to help to change this situation. Would this creature make you want to help? Not me. I do realise why some people consider this pleasant for the eye but this just isn't my cup of tea. Thought it does make you take another look.....

I still believe that Turku is one of the mostbeautiful cities in Finland. This is the Turku Cathedral.

The wall of Aboa Ventus-museum. This is what I would say is pleasant for my eye.

I've always liked it when kids throw their shoes to hang from the phone wires. When I saw this it reminded me of it - and I liked this one a lot! Though I'm not quite sure is this some ECOC11 thing or did some random person just hang his laundry there.

I wanted to take a pic of this graffiti. It's near my house and I've seen it so often it has been imbed to my head!

My Toshiba is dying - oh misery!

I haven't updated my blog for a few days even though I would have had things to show you. The reason for this is that my laptop is dying. Literary. I've had my TOSHIBA for almost 6 years already and finally it's starting to slow down - badly. It shuts down on its own and sometimes it won't open. It heats up too much and it won't play cd's. Also the other USB-hole doesn't work. I've actually been happily surprised for like the past couple of years that it is still working! I've dropped it so many times that it should have gotten broken already - and I do think that if my laptop was some other brand, eg. HP or Acer, it would have broke ages ago. I really do recommend Toshiba, it is the best computer ever! I am going to buy another Toshiba, when this one completely stops opening. Though my sis has Sony Vaio laptop and I have grown to like it a lot as well so if I can't find the kind of Toshiba I want, Vaio will be my second choice! But anyways, today I won't be posting anything else, I am going to let my dear laptop rest for a bit so you will hear from me next week again. Till then, enjoy my new inspiration board.
